New Bosstones
I didn't realize it, but the Mighty Mighty Bosstones released a new CD. They had either been on a hiatus or broken up for a few years. I had been a fan of them since the early nineties, and they were my first introduction to Ska (though I've heard them described as Skacore, Ska/Punk, and that nifty catch-all "Alternative" (i.e. not Brittney Spears)). Though I was lukewarm about their last disk, I was disappointed that they had broken up.
They regrouped for a few events in Boston in December, and produced a rarities and B-sides disk (along with three new tracks). I was going to buy it at Barnes and Noble, as I had a coupon, but they didn't carry it. Got a book about trying different foods (for my daughter) instead. I got the music last night from iTunes. CDs mostly take up space and act as backups in my house these days.
Overall, I dig it. A few numbers are more traditional, Skatalite-like Ska, which I dig. I think someone caught me dancing a bit at the bus stop to one of those. At least two tracks are meta, referencing other musical acts. It definitely reminded me of why I like the band.
Does it mean they'll be putting out more music? I hope so. Right now, it's just nice to have them back on a cold, gray day.

Sweet! I'm a big Bosstones fan, too. Or - I used to be. I haven't followed them much in the last few years.
Lately I've been back to the "Question the Answers" CD and will have to pick up this new one. Thanks for getting the word out!
