New Phone
My old phone had been dieing for a while now. I've been looking at options to replace it. Since I have a bad relationshiop with gravity, and spend a fair amount of time on a bicycle, I am not keen on all-in-ones. I'm not saying they should be avoided; just that my needs suggest seperating devices.
I have been looking at phones. I knew I wanted two things. First, I thought it would be nice to have Bluetooth, so I can sync numbers with my laptop (now that I have Bluetooth on a laptop). Second, as my phone is what I seem to take the most pictures with, I wanted a better camera--at least a megapixal.
I had picked out the Motoarola RAZR V3i a while ago. In addtion to a storied bike sponsorship (among other things, the first team Lance Armstrong rode for as a professional), it met the requirements, and had a good reputation among folks I knew. However, I learned over the weekend that my carrier stopped carrying it. The alternative was much more expensive; an unlocked one was about the same.
Then, I saw that the price dropped! It came down to a decision of how long my phone would last relative to my carrier's supply. My wife said I could get it as an early birthday present. So, I picked it up today.
So far, so good. I've played with the Bluetooth syncing (still need to get the hang of it), and need to get used to the UI. However, it seems to do a good job. Eddy was kind enough to pose for a test picture:
